Redwood Materials was founded in 2017 by JB Straubel, co-founder and former CTO of Tesla, on a simple but radical idea: the critical minerals powering the energy transition already exist. They just need to come back.

What you'll do

• Create and manage a library of electronics component symbols and footprints: for PCB designs using Altium CAD software.

• Hand-soldering and rework of PCB components, including fine-pitch surface: mount parts with rework station/hot air, and connectors; cable harness assembly.

• Running functional/bring-up tests on new board revisions, flashing firmware,: verifying power rails. Bench-level troubleshooting of prototype and production boards down to component level.

• Managing an electronics lab, including lab equipment and tool purchasing,: organization, maintenance, and cleaning. Keeping the lab organized, stocked with consumables and ESD/safety compliant.

• Setting up electrical test equipment for field testing support at outdoor project sites.

• Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering: Technology, or related field (or equivalent military/technical training)

What they're looking for

• Relevant coursework or certification in electronics fundamentals, circuit theory, or digital/analog systems
• Ability to read schematics, datasheets, and basic PCB layouts
• Familiarity with hand soldering (THT and SMT) to IPC-A-610 or IPC J-STD-001: workmanship standards, or willingness to be certified
• Basic proficiency with lab equipment: multimeter, oscilloscope, bench power supply, function generator
