What you'll do
Lead, inspire and grow a cross-functional team of engineers (backend and: frontend), ensuring smooth delivery and continuous improvement of the Deliveries systems and tech real estate.
Own the architecture and reliability of the delivery-control experience: skip, pause and resume, reschedule, cadence, delivery day, and address — with a strong focus on correctness, applying changes in time before cutoff, data integrity, and operational excellence.
Drive design decisions for scalable, event-driven services (e.g., Kafka) that: apply high volumes of delivery changes reliably, with the highest quality and resilience standards.
Operate as an engineering leader within a cross-functional squad: partner closely with product, frontend, and data to deliver end-to-end customer outcomes and make joint decisions across disciplines.
Champion observability, on-call health, and incident readiness so delivery: changes stay accurate and available around the clock.
Actively contribute to hiring and capacity planning, conduct regular code reviews, and mentor engineers.
What they're looking for
- Drive a continuous improvement culture and promote the HelloFresh DNA.
- You have led a team in an agile environment (5+ engineers), ideally within a cross-functional squad setup.
- You bring 6+ years of hands-on backend development experience.
- Deep experience building scalable microservices and event-driven systems: (e.g., Kafka), especially where correctness, idempotency, and data consistency are critical — such as scheduling, subscription management, or other transactional domains.
