The opportunity
Anthropic is seeking a Privacy Counsel to join our Legal team. You'll counsel on complex privacy issues and build the processes and programs that address privacy and data protection in a global context.
What you'll do
Counsel product, research and engineering teams across the model and product: lifecycles, applying laws written before frontier AI with clarity and fresh thinking
Translate complex technical architecture into clear, actionable risk advice
Deliver integrated guidance on safety, security and data protection
Lead privacy on Anthropic's most strategic deals and partnerships, opening: creative paths for novel technologies
Negotiate privacy and data protection terms in enterprise, platform and: partnership commercial agreements, including DPAs, BAAs, data sharing agreements and cross-border transfer terms
Lead privacy diligence on mergers and acquisitions, and support corporate governance
What they're looking for
- At least 8 years of privacy and data protection legal experience
- Deep familiarity with software and model development and architecture
- Proven ability to build privacy processes, playbooks and templates that scale with a fast-growing business
- Direct engagement with privacy regulators, including providing briefings and responding to inquiries
- Privacy and data protection work on mergers, acquisitions, and similar transactions
- Background advising safety, security or trust and safety teams, including on: privacy incidents and notification decisions
