The opportunity

What you'll do
Own and manage heavy metal mechanical commodities/subcategories—including: casting, forging, and machining—to execute supplier production (NPI to full production) strategies across Anduril's business lines
Be a force multiplier for the Supply Chain team and overall commodity: strategy, demonstrating a strong sense of ownership, proactivity, technical excellence, creativity, self-direction, and courage
Vet suppliers' production capabilities, factory layout, facilities, and: workforce for supplier inclusion in the Approved Supplier List—with a focus on heavy metal fabrication, large-scale structures, and complex subassemblies (e.g., torpedo tubes, engine blocks, forge blocks, heavy modules)
Support Supplier Quality Engineers (SQE) in ensuring suppliers' understanding: and adherence to the criteria for part quality set by SQE
Own bringing up new production tooling & lines at supplier sites to ensure: materials, processes, and tools are capable of meeting product performance, quality (criteria set by SQE), and demand requirements for heavy metal components
Own capacity expansion readiness and production ramp-up at suppliers,: particularly for large-scale forging, casting, and machining operations
What they're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or metallurgical/materials engineering: combined with an MBA (technical + business acumen highly valued)
- Previous experience in defense, aerospace, maritime, oil & gas, automotive, or heavy industrial manufacturing
- Experience with powertrain systems (boats, vehicles, planes) and/or large-scale heavy metal structures
- Background at companies such as Pratt & Whitney, Rolls Royce, Siemens, GE: Vernova, or similar heavy industrial OEMs
- Strong understanding of quality systems, standards, and certifications
- Familiarity with developing complex products in a high-mix, low-volume environment
- Exposure to working in a fast-paced, start-up environment
- Excellent communication and ability to effectively influence cross-functional partners
