What you'll do
Lead, coach, and develop a team of Software Engineers, supporting both their: technical and professional growth.
Foster a high-performing engineering culture built on ownership, collaboration, and continuous learning.
Partner closely with Product Managers to translate business priorities into scalable technical solutions.
Drive the technical direction of the team, balancing product delivery with: long-term platform scalability, resilience, and maintainability.
Guide architectural discussions and engineering decisions across the Cards: domain while empowering engineers to own technical solutions.
Deliver highly reliable and scalable software that supports global card: payment methods, including authorisation, routing, settlement, and scheme integrations.
What they're looking for
- You have experience leading and developing high-performing software engineering teams.
- You have a strong software engineering background building large-scale,: distributed systems in Java or similar backend technologies.
- You enjoy coaching engineers through technical mentorship, regular feedback, and career development.
- You're comfortable leading technical discussions, facilitating architectural: decisions, and balancing engineering quality with business priorities.
- You have experience working closely with Product Managers and: cross-functional stakeholders to deliver customer-focused solutions.
- You have strong problem-solving skills and enjoy tackling complex technical challenges at scale.
- Experience building payment systems or working within the cards payments: ecosystem (e.g. authorisation, routing, card schemes, issuer/acquirer integrations) is highly desirable.
- You're passionate about building resilient, scalable systems and continuously improving engineering practices.
