The opportunity
Adyen provides payments, data, and financial products in a single solution for customers like Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft - making us the financial technology platform of choice. At Adyen, everything we do is engineered for ambition.
What you'll do
Lead a team of 7–8 backend engineers. You will own 1:1s, performance: management, career development and hiring.
Take the time to understand the platform, the team and its stakeholders. Then: form a clear view of where the biggest changes are needed and build the plan to get there.
Guide system design and architecture, and set the engineering principles the: team builds by. The stack is Java, Spring Boot, web services, queueing frameworks, REST APIs and SQL/PostgreSQL.
Balance new development with modernising established systems. In a: business-critical area, this means telling what is truly urgent from what can wait.
Give the team a clear purpose, and build a culture where engineers feel: appreciated, stay motivated and grow to the next level.
Work closely with your Product Manager and with the teams across Adyen that depend on the platform.
