The opportunity

As the Intermodal Equipment Manager , you will play a critical strategic an operational leadership role within Uber Freight’s intermodal network. In this role, you will serve as the primary subject matter expert on intermodal capacity dynamics and macro market trends.

What you'll do

  • Drive the strategy and processes for how the Team collaborates with Operating: staff and vendors to secure intermodal container capacity.

  • Main escalation point in engaging railroad partners when capacity demands are not met

  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the intermodal capacity ecosystem within: Uber Freight and the greater macro intermodal market. Outline expectations and provide support to the team in understanding and executing our capacity commitments to customers. This may include but not be limited to equipment allocations, award management, street turn utilization, and effectively leveraging internal systems, resources or vendors websites to secure equipment and gate reservations.

  • Train, mentor, and manage team to ensure all company policies are adhered to

  • Coach team on equipment, capacity, and network optimization best practices.: Develop individuals through continuous feedback, providing positive feedback and recognition to reiterate behavior, while also delivering constructive ideas for competency improvement.

  • Develop railroad relationships meant to enrich the partnership between our organizations

What they're looking for

  • Continuously monitor financial risk levels with vendor accessorials and: expenses required to successfully manage the network capacity. Rail Storage reporting will be involved with this but not right away.
  • Hold team accountable for SLA. Monitor performance via Front or similar tools
  • Amend and update customer equipment allocations per market and region during peak season
  • Leverage, analyze and validate available trend reporting to derive insights: around equipment capacity, securing gate reservations, network optimization, and team behavior.
