The opportunity
Uber Freight is looking for a Logistics Specialist to join our Cross Dock Center of Excellence. This isn't just about moving freight; it’s about mastering the complexity of modern cross-dock logistics.
What you'll do
Technological Edge: Work with and integrate industry-leading Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and data tools.
Impact: You aren't just following a process; you’re analyzing freight flows,: preventing bottlenecks, and recommending improvements that shape our cross-dock transportation strategy while minimizing downstream impacts.
Master the Cycle: Navigate the full lifecycle of an order—from inbound load building to outbound tendering—using our advanced TMS and collaborating seamlessly with WMS platforms to maximize peak facility potential.
FIFO & Freight Flow Ownership: Take complete ownership of freight planning through the cross-dock facility, ensuring all inbound and outbound shipments are strictly planned and executed based on FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principles to maintain optimal throughput and avoid dwell times.
Strategic Sourcing & Scheduling: Build powerhouse relationships with customer-selected carriers. Leverage pre-planned static routes and select the lowest-cost, most efficient providers from participating carriers, ensuring dock schedules align for continuous delivery.
Data-Driven Problem Solving: Proactively identify performance trends, resolve shipment errors, and prevent dock bottlenecks. Ensure customer freight visibility by managing ASN/EDI data flows, as well as CSV shipment file uploads for non-EDI information.
What they're looking for
- Act as an Advisor: Train new users on our systems (TMS/WMS interactions) and document standard operating procedures that set the gold standard for cross-dock operational excellence.
- Collaborative Resolution: Serve as the critical link between shippers, receivers, facility operators, and carriers to resolve complex transloading and logistical challenges with professional poise.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- + years of relevant experience in transportation, logistics, or cross-dock: operations (A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or a related field may be considered in lieu of experience).
