What you'll do
Project Ownership & Strategic Planning: Own the full lifecycle of an individual power project within a program, from initiation to closeout, accountable to the Program Manager for delivery. Develop and execute detailed project plans encompassing timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and risk mitigation strategies. Set project direction and make key decisions on scope, schedule, and cost trade-offs.
Project Controls & Decision-Making: Direct the project's scheduling and controls functions through the commercial lead — setting the controls framework and KPIs, reviewing cost and schedule performance, and holding those functions accountable. Apply strong technical command of scheduling and project controls to challenge and integrate their outputs rather than producing them. Approve change requests and drive resolution of critical issues.
Team Leadership & Development: Lead the project delivery team — a Project Engineer (technical lead) and an Assistant Project Manager (commercial lead, who directs the project controls team) — clearly defining roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations. Develop both leads and their teams, delegating ownership to build capability.
Technical Execution & Construction Oversight: Direct the design, specification, and engineering of the power generation project through the technical lead, with a focus on constructibility across all systems. Ensure compliance with safety standards, codes, and regulations. Approve technical documentation, drawings, and specifications.
Field Construction Management: Direct the project through field construction, maintaining the project schedule and coordinating contractors, suppliers, and key stakeholders. Make field-level decisions on construction sequencing and resolve conflicts between trades.
Completions, Commissioning & Turnover: Lead the project team through construction completions, commissioning, and project turnover phases while supporting the strategic timeline for power generation. Ensure turnover documentation and system readiness meet operational requirements.
What they're looking for
- Strategic Procurement & Contract Management: Set procurement and contracting strategy and own the commercial outcome, while the Assistant Project Manager's commercial team executes purchasing, expediting, and contract administration. Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning at field locations. Approve contractor agreements and ensure adherence to commercial terms and safety protocols.
- Field Support & Travel: Provide on-site project support during construction, commissioning, and turnover phases. Coordinate field logistics, verify deliverables, and document site conditions. Travel to field locations up to 50% as required.
- Executive Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for vendors, customers, and internal leadership regarding all project matters. Build and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders. Provide project reporting and escalation management to the Program Manager and leadership.
- Formal Education & Extensive Experience: Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 7+ years of demonstrable experience in large (>$100MM) project management and execution with a focus on lifecycle execution. 10+ years of experience is preferred.
