What you'll do
Design, develop, and maintain backend services that power Twilio Flex’s high scale TaskRouter system.
Set and own the technical direction for a set of high scale, business: critical backend services running on AWS, and hold the architectural vision as it evolves
Lead the design of large distributed systems changes, covering scalability,: data architecture, fault isolation, and migration strategy
Raise availability and resilience for Tier 0 systems, and make deliberate: tradeoffs between reliability, cost, and delivery speed
Partner with peer engineering teams, platform teams, and product to align on: designs and unblock shared dependencies
Raise the engineering bar through design review, code review, and direct: mentorship of senior and mid level engineers
What they're looking for
- Drive operational excellence through observability, gamedays, incident: response, and converting recurring issues into permanent fixes
- Influence roadmap priorities with engineering and product leadership, and: represent the team's technical position across the wider organization
- + years of experience writing production-grade backend code in a modern: programming language (e.g., Java, Golang, Python, Scala, or similar).
- Strong fundamentals and experience in building fault tolerant distributed: systems, event-driven architectures, and database design.
